Swami Vivekananda said that“Youth is the future. My faith is in the younger generation.” January 12, his birth anniversary, is celebrated as National Youth Day to honour him and encourage rational thinking among the youth of India. SWAMI Vivekananda is one of India’s greatest thinkers. He is particularly remembered as the torchbearer for the youth.

Swami Vivekananda encouraged the youth to be strong in body, mind, and spirit and emphasized their role in nation-building. He saw India as a country with zealous young people, who could shape a modern nation on the foundations of Vedic spiritual ideals.

He also suggested that youth can learn much from the West while relying on India’s own spiritual heritage. His motto was – education for all, and upheld the importance of intellect and knowledge for the betterment of self and society. He believed that the greatest quest for the youth of India should be for a meaningful life – one that inspires the heart, liberates the mind and ignites the soul.

Our organization works for the overall development of youth who are highly vulnerable to exploitation, victimization and trafficking. This includes children who were orphaned, abandoned or living on the streets as well extremely impoverished children from tribal areas.

What We Do

Youth Development

As the name of our organization is Youth Unit of Volunteer Association (YUVA) which in India means youth and our organization is involved in several youth welfare activities and providing livelihoods to underprivileged youth. The NGO is involved in continuous efforts for betterment of mankind. Empowerment should be a chain phenomenon from person to person than a dead end at individual level. Our principle is, help a person in present in a way so that he can help millions other in future.

YUVA aims at community engagement to develop leadership, problem solving, community work, sports, culture, recreation and life skills among youth. it also has tie up with some local trade agencies and associations for employment opportunities for underprivileged youth. These opportunities create wage and self-employment and empowerment for bringing youths to the economic mainstream such as electric wireman, refrigeration, motor mechanic, motor driving, tailoring, cutting, beautician, mehndi etc for boys and girls respectively. YUVA believes “Transform them, they will transform the world”

We build a support system for many young people to realise their potential. Through customized leadership programmes with other developmental organizations and corporates, Youth Unit of Volunteer Association is culturing new thinking and supporting mindset shifts.

Our organization provides the most vulnerable youth of Punjab to become pioneers by providing skills to youth with disabilities and low education levels from villages. The training provided includes English language skills, soft skills, life skills and digital literacy.

Our organization educates youth on their human rights, government welfare policies in utilizing and taking advantage from them. Providing them support while exploring alternatives with clients who experience unemployment. For instance, people who are unemployed there are many schemes introduced by government such as Pradhan Mantri Berojgari Bhatta Yojana. It is a new monthly unemployment allowance scheme to help the unemployed youth in the country as a part of the scheme, the unemployed youth in India will be provided financial assistance in the form of a fixed unemployment allowance. Unemployment is more than an economic evil. It is also associated with lack of national progress as well as increased crime rates. So YUVA believe that we can be part of the solution, not the problem.

Youth welfare Activities

YUVA organises special movie screening organised on various topics of children, women according to the audience which helped them in increasing their awareness regarding the problems and solutions they are facing in the society. And various other recreational activities were organised such as field trips, visit to balmela, food processing units etc.We develop, maintain and evaluate, sports events awareness programs. Various cultural events are also organised for vulnerable people so they don’t miss out on their festivals due to financial and other issues. As celebrating these events aims to strengthen relationships and support families, improve children wellbeing and increase participation in community life to strengthen family and community functioning. Participation in arts and culture may produce engaged citizens promoting not only civic behaviours such as voting and volunteering, but also helping articulate alternatives to current assumptions.
